Cuimmíne m. Arnáine, abbot of Iona
Other names
Cuimmíne Find, Cuimmíne of Iona
Introduction
Seventh abbot of Iona after Columb Cille, Cuimmíne is cited in VC as the author of a book about Columb Cille’s miraculous powers (VC III.5). His abbacy coincided with the Synod of Whitby in 664, and a letter on the paschal question is sometimes attributed to him (Ó Riain, Dictionary, 245-6) There may be dedications to Cuimmíne in Scotland (Watson 1926, 303) but his presence is not strong in Scottish calendars, his feast appearing only in the Glenorchy psalter, and, possibly, in K. Camerarius.

Cuimine Find mac Fiachna meic Feradhaigh ab Iae.
Notes
Note the potential confusion with Cuimmne Fota m. Fiachna qv. Usually Fiachna is the grandfather of the Iona abbot (see Rec. Mai. 338), not the father.

It is possible that a feast of Cuimmíne of Iona underlies this, but much of Chambers's material is unreliable.

Coman, epscop mac Ernan. Do cenel cconuil Gulban, mic Néill dó. 'Coman. Bishop, son of Ernan. He was of the race of Conall Gulban, so of Niall.'
Notes
Ó Riain regards this as a commemoration of Cuimmíne of Iona, under a different guise (Ó Riain, Dictionary, 246).
