Boswell.

Introduction

Bede records that Boisil was prior of Melrose in the time of Abbot Eata, when Cuthbert was a monk there. 'Cuthbert humbly submitted himself to Boisil's instruction' and succeeded him as prior on Boisil's death (Hist. Ecc. iv, 27). ODS records (p. 44-5) that his relics were translated to Durham in the eleventh century. His eighth-century shrine was taken from Old Melrose to Jedburgh.
