Agnes, martyr of Rome
Introduction
Agnes was a virgin martyr of Rome whose cult was active by the fourth century and for whom fifth century Acts survive. Here she was a girl of 13 who refused marriage and so was killed by a sword in the throat. Her emblem is a lamb.
