Cellach m. Ailella, abbot of Iona, d. 865
Abbot of Iona from 854 on violent death of his predecessor. He died in Pictland. Thomas Charles Edwards suggests the links of Cináed mac Ailpín with Leinster might explain his headship of both Kildare and Iona (Oxford Dictionary of National Biography). Maire Herbert suggests, however, that by Cell Daro might have been meant 'a Scottish church of the name' (Herbert 1988, 73n24).
