Parish notes

The patronage was annexed to the priory of Whithorn by Alexander bp. of Galloway c.1427, and so continued. The vicarage appears to have normally been served by one of the canons of Whithorn (CPL vii, 526, Apostolic Camera, 95; etc.). Cowan 1967, 40. It is now part of Sorbie parish SOR WIG. The parishes of Cruggleton, Kirkmadrine/Eggerness and Sorbie were united in 1635. See note at RRS ii no. 293. No changes mentioned to parishes of Sorbie or adjacent Whithorn WHT WIG in Shennan 1892.
