NGR is for St Lawrence's Church, NMRS (Canmore ID 629): The Ordnance Survey Name Book (ONB) and RCAHMS state that the remains of the present church stand on the site of St. Laurence's Church. It may be that several churches stood on this site in succession. Several pieces of early medieval Christian stone-carving, includingn fragments of an interlace cross, parts of slab-shrines and a sculptured cross slab show evidence of early medieval importance.
