Parish notes
It appears (1189 x 1209) as a chapel of Kirkcormack (Holyrood Liber no. 49) when it is granted to Holyrood Abbey. In spite of this, it appears to have attained independent parochial status by the fourteenth century, when it is granted as 'the kirk of Michis within the toun of Balncrose' to the abbey of Tongland (RMS i, app. 2, no. 85).
