In 1649 parliament acceded to a request from the parishioners of Bassendean 'craving the said new kirk of Bassindeane to be transported to the midst of the said parochine in or about Wellstruther Greene, quhilk, after perambulatioun, the said presbitrie hes found to be the most commodious and convenient place in regaird of the equall distance therof from all the heritors and parochiners on all quarters of the said parochin' (RPS 1649/1/207)
