Parish notes

The patronage was granted by Marjory countess of Atholl c.1308 to the abbey of Coupar-Angus, which obtained the church to its own uses in 1314, although this was not effective for about 50 years (C.A. Rent. ii 286-8; C.A.Chrs. nos. 100, 115, 118; Abdn. Reg. i, 41). All fruits were annexed and a perpetual vicar pensioner served the church (C.A. Chrs. 118, 164; GRH Supp. Chrs. 31 Jan. 1539/40; C.A. Rent. ii, 124). Cowan 1967, 6. There was a detached part of ABD which was also a detached part of ABD parish of King Edward KED, near town of Banff. In 1891 it was transferred to Banff, and annexed to Alvah BNF. It was basically the estate of Moncoffer. See Shennan 1892, 161 for more details.
