The church of Aboyne ‘cum capellis’ was confirmed by Bp. Randulph of Aberdeen c.1240 to the proper uses of the Knights Templars at Culter. See Abdn. Reg. ii 271-2. Cowan 1967, 4. A.B. Coll. i 633-4 A.B. Coll. ii 32-6. It was united with the parish of Glentannar c.1600 (Fasti, 77).
