Parish notes
Annexed to Tongland by Michael bp. of Galloway c.1335x59, the church had been held for some forty years in 1410 when papal confirmation was sought. The parsonage was thereafter held by the abbey, the cure being a perpetual vicarage (GRH Vat. Trans., ii no.47; CPP i, 595; Ailsa Muniments no.345; APS iv, 308; RSS liii, 168). Cowan 1967, 131. It would appear from D. Brooke’s med. parish map (WMHP, viii) that it formerly included Portpatrick parish PTP.
