Notes
The name appears as a settlement name, presumably derived from the obsolete name of Loudoun kirk (Kilmichael, eccles, Loudoun, q.v.). The NGR given is that of the kirk, which presumably stands in the lands of Kilmichael settlement. The description of the land granted (in which Kilmichael is included) is given in Loudoun Charters, Mount Stuart, no. 1. (1162 x 1189), and the land called 'kelmihel & cobale & loudun per suas rectas diuisas' seems to be co-terminous with the modern parish of Loudoun.
