The existence of this 'chapel or chaplainry' (capelle sive capellanie) is attested by the RMS charter of 1537. It is stated to be in the barony of Sauchie, and though it is possible that it belonged to the barony but was situated elsewhere, it is unlikely. We can be fairly confident in locating it within 5km of Sauchie Tower.
