A vicarage by 1227, the parson may then have been one of the undesignated canons witnessing an agreement of that date (Moray Reg. no.75). In the reconstitution of the chapter of Ross, which was confirmed by Pope Alex. IV in 1256, the parsonage, along with that of Edderton, was assigned to the subdean of Ross, which whom the garbal teinds remained, Vet. Mon. no.clxxxii + other refs.) On the erection of the collegiate church of Tain by Bp. Thomas in 1487, the vicarage was assinged for the maintenance of the provost, who continued to hold it (RMS ii no.1694 etc.). Cowan 1967, 194.
