The NGR given is inferred from the Plan of 1753. The well lies a short distance to the east of Muthill old kirk, shown on the map as 'Kirk'. Immediately to the north of the well like, on the same map, Kildees's Yard, recalling the presence of a Céle Dé community at Muthill. The Plan can be found on-line at http://www.scotlandsplaces.gov.uk, then seasrch for 'Pitkellony'.
