Parish notes
It is called a mother church in 1180 x 1192 (Glasg. Reg. no.83), and had a dependent chapel, Hutton HTX, now HCR DMF, which soon afterwards became parochial, for details of which see Hutton HTX. Sibbaldbie was annexed to Jedburgh abbey before 1220. Later Jedburgh utilised both the parsonage & vicarage of Sibbaldbie revenues for the support of its dependent cell of Canonbie, to which they pertained at the Reformation. Cowan 1967, 182; Assumption, 221. It was united to Applegarth in 1609: RPS 1609/4/35 united Sibbaldbie and Applegarth, with Word and Sacrament to be at Appelgarth.
