Parish notes
‘The old burial ground at Balmadies .. once had a chapel dedicated to St Ninian’ Atkinson 1994, 6. Note also that nearby Balgavies Loch is St Ninians Loch 1590s Pont. However there is no physical evidence of an early church (Atkinson ibid.) Note also Chapelton between Mains of Balgavies and Balgavies Loch. Is this the site of the ‘capella’ mentioned with Rescolbie c. 1250? (St A. Lib. 36)
