Parish (extant in 1975)
Parish church built in 1820 on or close to the site of the medieval church.
Assigned as the prebend of the sub-chanter of Dunkeld by Gregory bp. of Dunkeld 1147-69, the church nevertheless only appears as a simple prebend in 1274, as it does in 1345 (Myln, Vitae, 5; Bag. 73; CPL iii 149). There is no doubt however that the parsonage was annexed to the sub-chantry of Dunkeld at the Reformation, the cure being a vicarage perpetual, and it would therefore appear likely that this was so in the 12th c. (Ass 306v; Reg. of Pres. i, 106v; RMS iii no.2597). Cowan 1967, 169. Rogers 1992, 187-90. The whole parish originally comprised of 2 lordships: Rattray and Glenballoch (Rogers 1992, 189). . A detached part of Rattray was annexed to Kirkmichael KRK in 1891 viz Bleaton, Bleaton Hallet, Dalvattan, Drumlin. Shennan 1892, 219.
