The chapel lies on the burn which is the boundary of Yetholm, and which here also marks the boundary between Scotland and England. The early forms of the name clearly indicate that the saint culted was a woman, so we should probably understand the Ordnance Survey's 'Ethelreda' as properly Etheldreda, aka Aethelthryth, Edtiltrudis, abbess of Ely, as is suggested indeed by the form of 1203.
