Notes
According to William Jolly (1882, 320) this site was known as St Bridget's Chapel. He does not indicate the source of his information, though the expression 'known as' suggests a local oral informant. The local minister, Rev. A. Campbell, reported in 1845 that this site was 'the remains of a chapel dedicated to St Dorothy' (NSA Croy & Dalcross, p. 457). This is highly unlikely given the lack of toponymic cult for this saint in Scotland, and there is no reference to the name 'St Dorothy's Chapel' or similar in the record.
