NMRS recordss (Canmore ID 62764): St Medana's Well, now called the Cheincough Well (E M H M'Kerlie 1916) flows from a rock on the shore beneath the church, (NX33NE 1). Traditionally, it is said to have sprung up miraculously, and by its use she recovered her sight. H Scott 1917. NX 3642 4006 St Medana's Well a natural spring was indicated on the ground by Miss Thompson, Craigengour, Monreith. The tradition still survives. Visited by OS (IA) 29 January 1973.
