Notes

The location of the croft is not known, but it is stated to be in the territory of Alton (Auldtoun) in 1493 (RMS ii no. 2157), which farm gives the above NGR as an approximate location. The same charter says that the land is 'commonly called Ladycroft' (vulgariter nuncupatas), indicating that the Latin name (Crofta Beatae Virginis Mariae) is a translation of the name for the purpose of a reference to it in a Latin charter.
