Notes
The existence of the chapel may be inferred from the settlement-name, Kilblain, and from local tradition. Weir reports (1829, 6-7) that, 'a little below Kilblain [the settlement] stood the remains of a Catholic chapel, and the tenant was permitted to remove the stones to enclose his garden, in doing which a variety of old coins were found, and more particularly the Cruikstone dollar'. The saint's memory - or that of the chapel - is maintained in the local names Kilblain Street and Kilblain Court (OS Digimap) at or near the site of the chapel.
