Notes
The place appears in a charter of 1187 x 1189 in which William I confirms to the bishop of Moray 'the church of Elgin, with the chapel of St Andrew and the Chapel of Munben' (RRS ii, no. 272). As a thirteenth-century reference to Pluscarden Abbey in Elgin parish describes it as lying in 'vallis Sancti Andree', it may be that the chapel was associated with Pluscarden, but that is by no means certain.
