Notes

The site is now Dalveen, but at time of OS 6" 1st edn, was Nether Dalveen. The site apparently of Dalveen Castle, a castle of the Douglasses in 15th century (Canmore ID 46301). The name and the site clearly indicate the original Dalveen was the broad and remarkable haugh where the Dalveen Lane flows into the Carron Water. A variety of names have been spawned by the haugh: Dalveen Rig, Dalveen Lane, Dalveen Pass, Nether Dalveen, Upper Dalveen, etc. Further south down Carron Water is site of Chapel (and farm called Chapel).
