Notes
It stands on the corner of Church Street and St Clement Street. It seems from Aberdeen Burgh Chrs. p. 189, that the chapel was known (at least by 1636) as the 'kirk of Futtie'(Capella Sancti Clementis Ecclesia de Futtie nuncupata), but it was called a 'kirk' as early as 1467. According to James Gordon's notes on Aberdeen, circa 1647, the church was founded in the village of Footdee (Futtye) on the instruction of the Aberdonians in 1498 (Geog. Coll. ii, 482). NMRS records a slightly different narrative (Canmore ID 79814): St Clement's Church (NJ90NE 18.00) stands on the site of St Clement's Chapel which was founded c.1598, was established as a church in 1631 and was demolished in 1787. W Kennedy 1818. No trace of the early building remains.
