NGR for modern building on the site of medieval kirk in Kirktown of Clatt (with piscina and carved tabernacle). Three pictish symbol stones in kirkyard (NMRS). In 1501 the king created the toun of Clatt (Villam de Clat) a free burgh of barony, in order to support the hospital of the bishop of Aberdeen. He granted also that they should have a (market) cross and a weekly market on Tuesday, and a fair (nundinas publicas) each year on the day of St ?Moluag (die S. Moloci) and for the octave.
