The ruins are in a burial ground on the bank of the R. Don. (NMRS, q.v. for fuller description). RMS iv, no. 1287 (1558) erects Inverurie as a royal burgh, and grants it two fairs annually, one on the Birthday of the BVM, and one on the feast of 'S Apollonaris' and during their octaves. The latter fair later became known as Polnar Fair. The farm of Polinar is nearby at NJ750204.
