Notes

Walter Fitzallan (Walter II), Third High Steward, intended to found a Gilbertine house here. His offer was accepted by the master of Sempringham. Though Walter states in a letter of 1219x1228 that he has founded a house called Dalmilling, it may be that Gilbertines did not establish regular conventual life here. THe lands and possessions were transferred to Paisley Abbey before 1238. There are no visible remains today. See NMRS for fuller details.
