Notes
The NGR is for the remains of the old parish kirk. The dedication to the BVM is suggested in a description of the liberties of the burgh of Berwick-Upon-Tweed in RMS ii no. 1412 (January 1479), which includes the phrase '... per antiquam viam le Cartgage extendentem extra le Cartfurde ad vicum crucis S. Marie de Mordingtoun ...' This is ambiguous however, as it may mean either 'St Mary's Cross of Mordington' or 'the Cross of (the church of) St Mary of Mordington' only the latter of which would indicate the dedication of the church. The latter is more likely.
