Notes

The island contains the remains of an early medieval monastery, at NR023595. For discussion of the site and the name, see Márkus 2012, 379-82. In 1391, the pope wrote to the bishop of Glasgow, confirming the exchange between the abbot and convent of Saddel (Saydil) and the abbot and convent of Crossraguel (Crosraguier), by which which the two bodies exchanged their respective ownerships of Inchmarnock (Inchemernok) and the chapel of the Holy Trinity at Kildomine (Kyldormne). The exchange had been made thirty years earlier but without containing episcopal consent, so the abbot of Saddel sought papal confirmation.
