Notes

NGR is where 'Site of Chapel' is marked on OS 6" 1st edn. The site lies (or lay) on the lands of Kilbride (Bennan), and it seems likely, though the evidence is not secure, that this was the original site to which the name Kilbride was attached. 'Moss-covered ruins' of a chapel and an unploughed area, apparently the remains of a burial ground, were observed in 1864, though nothing can be seen now (NMRS).
