The approximate location of this well is inferred from RMS iii no. 1404 (1534), in which the lands of Little Loquhariot (Litill Lochquhorat), Hagbrae (Halkbray) and Park are ranted to Robert lord Maxwell and Agnes, countess of Bothwell, mentioning one mark-land of them lying beside St Kentigern's Well (proxime fonti S. Kentigerni jacens).
