This was site of a hospital traditionally founded by Robert Bruce as a leper hospital. The foundation is linked to a well nearby (Kingcase Well). The dedication to St Ninian seems firmly entrenched. NMRS record on site is extensive and should be consulted. The site of the hospital is now covered by a housing estate, but the saint is still honoured by the presence of St Ninian's Road, which runs north from the area once occupied by St Ninian's Hospital, and nearby St Ninian's Public Park (OS Digimap). In 1452 the king granted to Hugh Wallace (Hugoni Valace) the hospital of Kingcase (hospitulariis domus de Kilcase), for his faithful service; also the lands of Spitalschellis (RMS ii no. 528).
