Notes

The NGR is of a supposed chapel site (noted on OS 6" 1st edn), excavated in the 19th century, and at which there are some portable stone remains (no ground structures), and human bone occasionally appears. There was undoubtedly a church / chapel of some description here in the middle ages, but the precise location must remain in doubt (NMRS). Blaeu's map of Arran (1654) shows an ecclesiastical symbol here, beside the settlement, suggesting that the chapel - or some remains of it - were still evident when this area was surveyed.
