Mackinlay reports: 'In Strathblane parish, Stirlingshire, is St Mackessog's Well, near the ancient clachan of Netheron, a very likely spot for the site of a church according to Mr J. Guthrie Smith, who is of the opinion that an early dedication in Strathblane bore the saint's name' (1914, 137; citing J. Guthrie Smith, The Parish of Strathblane (Glasgow 1866) 168n.).
