Notes

This is the old parish kirk of Rosneath. Note the presence of Tom a'Mhoid ('Moot Hill') 220 metres to the north-east (OS Digimap). The modern Church of Scotland St Modan's Church stands a few metres to the east of this ruin. It is worth noting that in the first half of the thirteenth century 'Hauel brother of Maoldomhnaich issued a charter granting a salt-pan in Rosneath to Paisley Abbey. It is witnessed by Gilmothan (for Gille Mhodain, 'servant of Modan'), son of the sacristan of Rosneath (filio sacriste de Neueth) (Paisley Reg. 211).
