Notes

The NGR is for the church on the island of Inchcailloch, which served as the parish kirk of Buchanan until the seventeenth century. The hypothetical name as given is inferred from the account given in the Blackadder Book of Devotions, NLS MS 10271: 'Sancta Kentigerna vocata Scotice Machquha, patrona ecclesie de Ynchcalzoch in Lenax, a nunnullis reputata soror beati Kentogerni, cuius festum celibratur [sic] crastino epiphanie Domini' (St Kentigerna, called in Gaelic Machquha, patron of the church of Inchcailloch in Lennox, belived by some to be the sister of St Kentigern, whose feast is kept on the day after the Lord's Epiphany). See Durkan 1999; Márkus 2008. Aberdeen Calendar, 259-60: 'In Scocia apud Inchcalyerth (Inchcailloch) Sancte Kentigerne matrone ...'
