Notes

The well lies on or near what was the parish boundary between the forty-pound land of Buchanan, which was a detached part of the parish of Luss, and the parish of Buchanan. The detached part of Luss is now part of Buchanan parish, and therefore the well is no longer on a boundary. See Márkus 2008. When the well was cleared slightly in 2007, coins and white stones were found in it. The coins were modern, indicating that the well continues to be resorted to.
