Notes
OS Name Book recorded this as St Margaret's Well in 1854, describing it as 'protected by a stone covering in the shape of a house, with a door on it'. It is now covered by a flowerbed (NMRS). __________ The well gives its name to the nearby modern street, St Margaret's Well (OS Digimap). By 1671 the well itself was also being referred to by the name 'Head Well' (Taylor with Márkus i, 321).
