Notes

Medieval kirk site of the parish of Strathlachlan, alias Kilmorie. It is the burial place of the chiefs of Clan Lachlan. Though the dedication may be to Máelrubha, local pronunciation with the stress on the second (penultimate) syllable makes it more likely that Mary, the BVM, is the dedicatee, as does the presence nearby of Tobar Cille Moire. Máelrubha dedications are usually pronounced with the stress on the final syllable, as in Loch Maree, Amulree, and so on.
