Notes
On Portmoak farm are the remains of the old church belonging to the priory of St Serf on the island of Loch Leven. The harbour (Gaelic 'port') is also visible nearby, from which Portmoak took its name. Sculpture found at the site includes a fragment of a cross-slab dated stylistically to the 9th x 11th centuries. See Taylor 2017, 469 (and Taylor 2017, 560-1 for the possibility that the name *Moak is a reflection of the Latin Servanus, or Serf.)
