Notes
NSA ix, 938 recorded in 1845 that 'The ground on which the manse is erected was anciently part of the property of the Order of Knights Templars; and a copious spring of excellent water at the manse is still named St John's Well'. NMRS says there is no trace on the surface of this well, but the water is piped and supplies the manse. THe name is still known (1968).
