Originally a leper-hospital, late it became a farm of the same name. It lay on the lands of Kinkell SSL, which belonged to the Culdees of St Andrews, late the collegiate church of St Mary's of the Rock (Taylor with Markus, Place-Names of Fife, vol. 3, 528-9)
