Notes

On a haugh on the north bank of the River Earn. The river here is the parish boundary. The old parish kirk of Strageath is just across the river, and was dedicated to St Patrick. Also note that one of the fairs moved to Crieff to take advantage of its central position was Great Thursday fair on the second Thursday of March (Black 1999, 32), which is close to St Patrick’s day. Could this once have been celebrated at Dalpatrick? There was a ford on the Earn here, where cattle were driven from Dalpatrick across the river into Strageath (St Patrick's Parish) - one of the major river crossings for Scottish cattle-drovers. The NGR given is for OS Digimap Dalpatrick, which was Easter Dalpatrick on OS 6 inch 1st edn (1866). 1 km to the west is the site of a Roman camp.
