Mackinlay 1914, 212: 'A cave associated with St Fergus at one time existed in the bank below the church, and close to the spring, still bearing his name, in the romantic dell through which flows the burn of Glamis' (citing Rev. J. Stirton's 'Glamis', pp. 111, 112, 6).
