Notes

NMRS records this as a "mystic" well used for medicinal purposes (NSA, 1842). Contrary to MacKinlay (1914, 503), Watston states that this well can have nothing to do with Moroc, and the dedicatee here is Muireach (possibly Muireadhach, abbot of Iona, who died inn 1011) (1926, 329). In 1975 OS recorded that the site had been obliterated by 'soil creep', with 'nothing now to indicate its site apart from water seeping from the bank-side. The name is not known locally.'
