It is near the bridge over the River Tilt, and not far north of the confluence of the River Garry and River Tilt, on whose plain a settlement Bridge of Tilt. To the east is Tom na h-Iobairt, and to the south-west is Clach na h-Iobairt. Also to the south-west is Cill The present modern church was built on the site of a medieval structure (NMRS). It is owned and used for worship by the Scottish Episcopal Church, and has been renamed 'St Adamnan's Church' by them, on the mistaken assumption that the name Kilmaveonaig represents a dedication to Adomnán, abbot of Iona.
