Note that it lies west of Chapelton, which is mentioned in 1546, and beside Chapelton (right on the parish boundary) is Lady Well, Menmuir. RMS mentions Chapelton and Kilgarie together in 1556, thus: 'terras et villas de Braco, Chapeltoun, Wodlandis de Balzordie, Heremetage, cum toftis, croftis et pratis de Kilgarie, quarterium terrarum et ville de Petmwdie in parochia de Menmure' (RMS iv no. 1117) See NMRS for further details.
