Notes
NGR from OS Digimap, 'St Peter's Chapel, remains of'. This must be the chapel recorded circa 1647 by James Gordon: 'going on a little further, near the public highway, there was once a church dedicated to Peter called the Spital Church' (alterius paulo progredientibus, secus viam publicam olim templum Petro sacrum positum erat templum Nosocomii dictum), and adds that it had by then been removed, and he know nothing of its foundation (Geog. Coll. ii, 490).
